Allison Todd, LCSW

We're going to find your inner calm ...

I work with all ages of clients who struggle with knowing what they need and sharing those needs with their loved ones. In working with adults, I help people who are struggling in their relationship to others, like partners, parents, or friends. I really enjoy working with people struggling with anxiety  or depression, and I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness in an intentional way. I want to give you a hands on, concrete set of skills that can equip you to deal with life transitions and healing from traumatic experiences.

One of my specialities is in helping children who have been adopted and their families create their new bond together. It's really difficult to communicate needs clearly if that's never been shown to you or rewarded. And it can be painful to be excited adoptive parents and realize that your child might have a hard time letting in and trusting all the love and care you have to offer. Then are the moments they have a melt-down over no apparent reason, and you find yourself questioning, "Do I have what it takes to do this?" Yes, you do, and I can help.

I bring patience, calm, and humor into my work with you. I love knowing what makes you unique, and what gifts you have. Do you play music? Do you draw? Your whole self is welcome in the room with me.

I have over 16 years of experience working with Reactive Attachment Disorder and other attachment-related difficulties. I am trained in CBT, Dyadic Development Psychotherapy, Neurofeedback, and Theraplay. I use a mindfulness focus in my work with clients.
